Calitzdorp - This town is known as the Port Capital of South Africa. The annual Calitzdorp Port Festival is held during the last weekend of July each year. This fertile valley was originally inhabited by San and Khoi people who left numerous rock paintings, which make for great sightseeing.
Knysna Oyster Festival - The 2008 festival will be The Big One! 25 years of oysters, sport and fun in Knysna. It takes place annually during June. Oysters are, of course, a huge component of the festival. Other traditional favourites of the festival include the Oyster Cooking Competition, the Oyster Eating Competition, the Waitron Race and the Bowls Tournament.
