For those of you who haven't been to Jozi lately - the place is under serious construction. And a great new addition is the ONEWellness Spa retreat in Sandton.
Sandton in all its sculpted, lush greenness is now a network of detours and obtrusive construction areas; all thanks to the golden metropolis' expansion and the much-vaunted Gautrain.
But the latest brick and mortar addition, fused together with a generous dollop of chic style and relaxation, is the Sandton Isle complex - which is also the pamper playground for guests of the new Radisson SAS Hotel.
The spa had only opened a week earlier when I had the opportunity to join Sandton's well-groomed set during a recent business trip - but the booking diary belied its newness.
Heads up: Book as far in advance for your treatment as the popularity of the establishment isn't likely to fizzle anytime soon.
Trying to get an appointment booked for my mother, to coincide with mine a day prior to my treatment, was a no-go. Arriving a few minutes earlier for my facilities tour and treatment allowed me to be privy to the deft balancing act being performed by the manager on duty as she efficiently tried to appease disappointed walk-ins.

While the spa is open to the general public as well as members of the adjacent Planet Fitness gymnasium (providing the integral ‘fitness' component of the holistic ONEwellness blueprint), guests of Radisson have direct access to ONEwellness via elevators from the hotel to the spa.
My treatment was for an express facial, inclusive of mani and pedi; just the recharge any weary business traveller or jetlagged tourist could ask for.
I was polished and primed in less than an hour-and-a-half. The in-house product of choice, Pevonia Botanica was soothing and helped to fend off the drying effect of the Gauteng climate. Yes, even after a day or two I tend to feel the effects of the altitude.
My treatment ended off with delicous herbal tea at the Vitality Pool with its surrounding relaxation deck and loungers, offering surprisingly pretty views over Johannesburg's Northern suburbs.

Other facilities on offer include:
• 10 Multi-functional treatment rooms, including a duo-treatment room
• Rest and relaxation area
• Change rooms
If you have the time then I would insist that you treat yourself to one of the more extensive Day Spa experiences or Touch Therapies treatments on offer for both men and women.
The ONEjourney signature treatment (the ultimate in sensory stimulation, enhanced by heat, ice, steam, hydrotherapy and Chromotherapy (light therapy) would be a good place to start.
