Durban fun
Take the kids to Durban this school holidays. From as little as R1 249, its a definite steal...

So you've finally decided to go away with your partner for a romantic holiday in the Garden Route. You get there, ready to have fun and relax but your partner has other ideas. Golf, their other great love. Endearing sport that it is, golf has also turned many adventurous women and men into bored, sullen widows and widowers. The next time you get teed off, try some of these activities while your partner is teeing off.
Monkeyland
Go on a monkey safari. Monkeyland in Plettenberg Bay is a one-of-a-kind animal sanctuary, catering specifically to primates. The monkeys are not caged like you’d expect. They’re actually free to roam about the forest in harmony.
On your guided safari-walk you can see primates ranging from the Lemurs of Madagascar to the Howlers of South America. Listen carefully to the tour guides; they’re full of fascinating facts.
Just in case you want more excitement, or want to feel superior to the partner who left you for golf, walk along the 118m suspension bridge above the forest canopy. It’s the longest of its kind in Africa.
Go To Oudtshoorn
The sleepy town just short drive from George is home to the dizzyingly beautiful Cango Caves. They’ve been in formation for over 20-million years; they’re the result of rainwater that percolated through cracks and fissures, slowly dissolving the rock and limestone to form enormous halls and tunnels that are now the Cango Cave system. Trump the person who turned you into a golf widow/er and challenge yourself with the climbing, crawling and swimming on site. If you’re not the adventure type, worry not. Oudtshoorn is also famous for its ostriches, visit a farm and marvel at these giant birds.
If you can’t go to Hawaii…
Spend the day at Mossel Bay. This small town, half way between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, is second only to Hawaii for having the mildest climate in the whole world. So it’s not Hawaii but that famous island doesn’t have the historical ancient post office or the Bartolomeu Diaz Museum Complex. Go on and enjoy yourself on the north facing beaches of Mossel Bay. They fanned by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. If you’re still not satisfied, or you don’t feel the rush to go back to your golf-playing sweetie; take a boat trip to the nearby Seal Island. Here you can watch about 5 000 seals enjoying the sun and water.
