Table Mountain chitchat

April 24th, 2008
Venture with us as we enjoy Table Mountain and conversations with tourists from all over the world.
A quick spin up the 1 086m summit of Cape Town's most famous landmark, with a revolving cable car, allows you to enjoy splendid views of one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and of course the equally famous Robben Island...
Our morning visit started out clear and turned into an awesome day. Mingling with the other visitors to Table Mountain, Gotravel24 wanted to know: What's been the best part of your trip to Cape Town?
Guy, 18, and Maya, 16, both from Israel: “We’re here on a family holiday with our folks and we love the Cape Town views, especially here on Table Mountain, and not forgetting the penguins at Boulders Beach.”
Michaela Mariani, Victoria Andrzejewski, Xavier De Villiers and Daryn Boltman, all 13 (grade 7), all from Edgemead Primary, SA:
Michaela: “Cape Town is a cool place.”
Victoria: “We have beautiful views and many historical aspects like the mountains the Cape Castle of Good Hope.”
Xavier: “I visited many places but only Cape Town can offer you nature and at Cape Point, you get to see dolphins and seals and lots more cool stuff.”
Daryn: “Cape Town is a lekker experience.”
Lujun, 32, from Mainland China: “I’m visiting with a tour group. I love the natural scenes and the blending of the two different oceans.”
Jan Bryant, 70, USA: “For my 70th birthday, I wanted to explore South Africa. I love every part of Cape Town. It's dramatically different. We went to Botswana, Victoria Falls, JHB and now Cape Town. Each place is so beautiful and unique. The best would be the beauty of Table Mountain this morning.”
Thomas and Florence, both 28, from France: “Cape Town is not our favourite place in South Africa, we prefer the Drakensberg. But we’re happy to be spending Thomas’ birthday here.”
Sonja, 46, and Caroline, 39, from the United Kingdom (UK): “We’re also in the travel industry and in South Africa for an educational visit. Table Mountain is awesome but the best part of the stay has been a safari in Lalibela in the Eastern Cape.”
Steven, 38, from UK: “I’m also part of the educational stay and what I love most about Cape Town is Camps Bay.”
Sadly, we soon realised our trip had to come to an end. As we went down the mountain, the views that left us will forever remain and we can truly understand why Cape Town is the place to be.
