With 50 Cents and G-Unit coming into the country next month, I thought it'd be fun to introduce a few tips on how to travel like a star. This doesn't in anyway encourage unreasonable behaviour and abuse at the airport because that's just not cool. Just a fun look at how you can incorporate some star travel savvy.

Get the recognition

If you fly frequently on the same line, you’re bound to make some friends. You will be noticed and treated accordingly and receive VIP perks whenever they come up. It's not the same as causing a stir just by arriving but at least someone will be recognised for real.

Get an entourage

This goes without saying. Don't travel alone. Always make sure you’re travelling with your friends. But be certain you're the one who stands out. Stand out - dramatically. If someone wants to talk to you they'll find themselves approaching one of your minions, er friends, to ask them to relay the message.

Keep those shades

No matter where you are, no matter what time of the evening keep your sunglasses on. Who cares if there's no sun in the airplane? It's all about standing out and looking unapproachable at the same time.

Dress it up

It doesn't matter where you're flying to, dress up and have perfect hair. Kanye West doesn't travel around looking haggard. You might not have a paparazzi escort when you land in Kimberly or Lanseria but if your friends or family decided to take photos upon your landing, they've got to be blog ready.

Carry your own food

Obviously this doesn't mean you actually have to carry it yourself. Make one of you companions do it for you. While you can't exactly afford to throw a tantrum for your personal chef to come aboard to prepare your special meals, you can get some fruit and some Pellegrino.

Ignore others

When you walk on the aisle, and it should be often, don't make eye contact with anyone. You're mysterious and people must try to guess who you are. Obviously they won't care, but if you're a hip hopper they would, and since this is all pretence, who cares?

Ask…maybe ye shall receive

It's all about losing self-consciousness. If you'd like to have some perk at your hotel don't be shy to ask. It can't hurt and if you score it'll be fabulous. Just don't cause a scene if you can't get anything, and remember the question, "Do you know who I am?" has been majorly played out.

Don't be a hermit

Sample the night life. Club hopping is meant for starry creatures like you. Obviously your clothes should be appropriately outrageous and scream extreme confidence (absolute tack is nice too). Remember to flatter the bouncers, you don't have to call them "baby" but play nice.

This is all in the name of fun - appreciated only by the divas at heart.

Jet off to see 50 cent in either Cape Town or Jo'burg.
