Suga unpacks

July 3rd, 2008
DJ Suga is that 'sweet' airwaves voice we've all come to know. We chat to her about her globetrotting.
She's also garnered respect for having MC'd the 46664 concerts in Cape Town, George and Norway, as well as SA's Live Earth concert, which means she's met some pretty interesting people.
GoTravel24.com: As one of SA's popular radio DJ’s, does it bother you being recognised while on holiday?
Suga: "I actually find it amazing that people recognize me in some of the far off places that I have been. Sometimes, they are listeners from South Africa, like the two couples I met in Bali, or they are either British or American and have listened via the internet. That always amazes me.
Where's the most interesting place your job has taken you to and why?
"The most interesting place my job has taken me to so far has been the tiny town of Tromso in Norway. Bali is a close second.
Are you a bush baby, eco adventurer, extreme thrill-seeker, beach bandit, or five-star freak?
"From my experiences so far, which have included five-star luxury and beach bandit, I consider myself quite an adventurous traveller so I think I would be happy and thrilled to experience everything. I must admit that I wouldn’t travel to a place specifically for extreme thrills.
Local is lekker when you find yourself in...
"Local is lekker when I find myself in the Eastern Cape. My roots are there.
My favourite hangout in the global village is...
"My fave hangout has got to be New York. There is an amazing energy in that city and I have had some of my most memorable experiences there. Attending a New York Nicks Basketball game at Madison Square Gardens, seeing MTV and meeting Harvey Keitel.
Your travel nightmare would have to be...
"My ultimate travel nightmare would be losing my passport and valuable documents stopping me from getting home.
Your dream getaway would see you...
"My dream getaway would see me going on an around the world trip with stopovers in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Miami.
Travelling in style is...
"Travelling in style is flying either Business Class or First Class on long haul flights.
Have you had or made any mile-high club propositions?
"I must admit, I have never had or made any such propositions. I am not sure I would know how to get over my embarrassment.
Your ideal travel companion is...
"My ideal travelling companion is a good book.
You never travel without your...
"I never travel without my little red dress. It always makes me feel amazing no matter where I am.
Tip to make and not break the holiday...
"Have an open mind and don’t get too serious about the little things that are not quite to your liking. Each experience is valuable and no plan is foolproof.
What keeps you coming back for more...
"I must admit, I am trying to get as many stamps in my passport as possible….but seriously, what I gain from travelling is amazing because it makes me grow as a person.

SUGA IS ONE OF OUR LEADING YOUNG ICONS.Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 07/05/2008 - 20:32. |
I have been most fortunate to have met many young people in the local Entertainment industry and Suga is amongst those who displays great humility and genuine concern for the plight of the less fortunate. She remains grounded and level headed despite her fame and talent. She is destined to go far in life and I wish her much love and good fortune as she progresses on her journey. This is a young lady and role model that we all can be so proud of. Keep up the great job of work, Suga and know that you are appreciated and respected. Blessings, Sincerely,Gavin Koppel J23 Records. |
