Richard Hardiman unpacks

July 22nd, 2008
Radio DJ Richard Hardiman's travel motto is "be prepared" and he readily admits he can rough-it in a tent, jump of bridges and be quite happy in the spa.
You’re Hardiman the Partyman on KFm 94.5, what’s the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention?
Richard Hardiman: I think one of the scariest things happened when a woman brought a whole two course meal that she had cooked for “us” to the studio – I was doing a late show at the time… when it happened I thought it was quite sweet but looking back it may have been a little obsessive on her part!
Do you mind being recognised while on holiday?
"Great thing about radio is that this rarely happens – I have to admit though when paying with a credit card the questions normally start… I try and travel with cash now!

"i have travelled extensively in my time on air – I think Las Vegas will always be a highlight; that and travelling to see the BeeGee’s on a train to Pretoria…very surreal!
Have you been on holiday recently, if so, where and what was it like?
"My wife and I went to Mozambique last year on Honeymoon – I have never really travelled much up that side of the African Coast – it was amazing! Better than some island resorts!
Are you a bush baby, eco adventurer, extreme thrill-seeker, beach bandit, or five-star freak?
" I am a wonderful mix of all of them! I can rough-it in a tent, jump of bridges and be quite happy in the Spa…I just have to know what I am getting into beforehand so I can get my mind set.

Travelling in style is...
"Being comfortable! Beyond that I don’t need much more!
Are you a walking holiday itinerary or a spontaneous relaxation rebel?

What keeps you coming back for more...
"The people and the destination – I think people make a place. For example New York. It’s a great city but the New Yorkers make it worth seeing more than once!"
