Winter can't stop the fun

April 2nd, 2009
It's nearly time for the school holidays and we need to remember that kids will be kids.
They love something new and exciting to do. Now that it's getting so close to winter, it's not that easy to find something fun to do.
We here at GoTravel24 want to make sure that your trip to Cape Town these holidays are the best they could ever be, especially for the kids with this great line up of things to do.
• Visit Somerset Mall this Easter
Somerset Mall plans to make sure that kids have a blast these holidays. Look out for the Mad Hatters Fun Zone from 4 April to 14 April between 10am to 4pm.
Kids can look forward to a zone where everything will be bright, wacky and fun.
Entertainment such as face painting, crafts and activities in the Drop & Shop zone to a free daily show by the Mad Magician Monty makes this zone the place to be. Over the Easter weekend kids can meet the Easter bunny and take part in an exciting Easter egg hunt.
For more info visit the malls website.
• Make some pizza
If your children are between the ages of 6 and 12, for only R65 you can take them to the Oude Molen Eco Village in Pinelands where they can make their very own pizza in this fun workshop.
The kids get to use a real wood fired oven which is always fun.
From 9:30 to 12:30 on nine April make your way to Pinelands and this gets your little chefs career kicking.

• Mix it up
Are you interested in music? Do you have a passion for mixing and creating sounds? Bring your children to the Soundhouse at the Baxter Theatre on 6 April from 10am until 1pm.
For only R90, they will be able to create their own beats and choose their own style, tempo, and even record their own voices.
They advise kids to bring a snack for the break too. Afterwards, you creation will be recorded on CD for the kids to take home and show off to friends and family. How cool is that?

The now Olympic size ice rink situated within Grand West is a very popular facility. The rink is open to the public with the hire of ice skates available. It's a great place to take the kids especially if its one of their birthdays.
Being an indoor ring, it ensures that no winter weather will spoil your outing.
Remember to bring a change of clothes if you will be skating and warm clothes are advised even if you are just there to watch. The flashing lights and foot stomping music makes it a fun adventure for all participating.

It may seem like a dangerous sport but it's actually quite easy and very safe if you adhere to the rules. Who knows, your kid may have hidden ambitions to be the next Lewis Hamilton...
