Durban has many great flea markets that you and your family can visit. If you don’t know what to expect or where to go then read on, we’ll make it easier for you.

Amphitheatre Flea Market

This is a great place to go with your kids on Sunday. After you’ve stocked up on eye-catching curios and enjoyed your fill of samoosas and rotis on display, drink it all down with the delicious sugar cane juice sold just on the beachfront. If you still need to chill out, the Bay of Plenty is nearby, go and enjoy the berimbau sounds brought to you by the Capoeira na Praia. There’s also a children’s jumping castle waiting for an assault from the kids.

 Essenwood Road Flea market

Get crafty on Saturdays. You kids will enjoy this craft market, as they even sell toys. You too can get lost in it, there are 220 stalls to check out, and they even sell clothing and amazing food. When your kids finally get too anxious, you can take them to the playground area.

 Point Waterfront Flea Market

This is a wonderful all rounder for the whole family. There’s a great variety of restaurants, live entertainment for the whole family and of course flea market spoils. There’s even restored, beautiful terraced cottages to look at.

 South Plaza Flea Market

This is a really big market. There are about 500 outdoor and 200 indoor stalls. That means way too many options for your bargain hunting paws. When you get too tired of collecting all the fine crafts on display, you can take in the relaxed atmosphere and some of the many light snacks on offer.

Stables Moonlight Market

Night time markets have a really exotic feel to them. Take your family out to Stables Moonlight Market. It’s called Stables because the building was originally used as a stable. Now instead of horses you can find clothes, antiques, art, books and more. Don’t worry about food; they’ve got it covered too.

Victoria Street Market

You don’t need to go to the East to enjoy some of their best products. Take your family to the Victoria Street Market and check out a bit of India, Taiwan and China. There are more than 170 stalls competing for your attention. Whether it’s spices, meat, clothing, fish, shoes or brass you’re looking for. It’s all there for you to take in.
