Winter just makes me have an extra craving for good food, which makes the Sunday Times Food show a very important entry in my diary.

Tasting South Africa…

This food indulgence deluxe is happening from 3 – 6 July at the Sandton Convention Centre. My taste buds are salivating already, especially when you consider the lineup of expertise.

Local and international chefs are preparing to produce an array of specially chosen dishes. But they have more than good food to inspire even the not so-useful-in-the-kitchen. Don’t forget to check out the latest gadgets and gizmos designed to make life easy for all kitchen goddesses.

What to expect…

This year it’s bigger and better as the show has an additional exhibition hall at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Also making this year very different from the other years, is that the show will expand from beyond its themed footprint of food and wine to include culinary-related lifestyle elements such as youth-specific activities, kitchenware, cookery books, gadgetry, appliances and home ware. There will even be tips on unforgettable table settings.

Event highlight…

The Sunday Times Food Show has partnered with the Cape Wine Academy to introduce the ‘Food and Wine Experience’ theatre. Visitors will get the opportunity to experience food and the perfect wine pairing, free of charge.

Celebrity chefs will be there, showing off their antics and signature dishes. The lineup includes the following:

Reza Mahammad
, BBC Food's freshest culinary talent, is back by popular demand. Born and bred in India, he has many television shows under his belt, like Coconut Spices and the United States of Reza. His restaurant Star of India has also been popular in London for over a quarter of a century.

Ching-He Haung is the host the BBC FOOD channel’s Ching’s Kitchen. Born in Taiwan, she and her family lived in South Africa for six years before emigrating to the UK. Her first book, China Modern was published in 2006.

Italian chef Gino D’ Acampo is as delicious to look at as his food tastes and looks. This Italian delight went to England at 20 and now owns an import and distribution company, Bonta Italia. He is also the author of two books, Fantastico (2007) and Bellissimo (2008).

With all this on offer, there is hope for even the most challenged cook. Don't miss out.
