Eat at: Moulin Rouge

The Cabaret theme is inviting when you enter the little bistro. You are greeted by a red and black interior, chandeliers, feathers, hats and masks. Theme evenings are held on special occasions like Valentines Day where can-can girls will entertain you. Themed nights mean you are welcome to dress-up in the Moulin Rouge style as Anne-Marie and her staff will also be in their feathery finest.

The cuisine is mainly South African but you can find a few French meals on the menu. The starters such as the Pan-Fried Duck, Carpaccio and Soups will put you in the mood. The average meal is about R70.00 – R95.00.

Party at: Karoo Nightclub

Step into one of the most recognised commercial clubs in George. Karoo boasts two bars, four big screens and a huge dance floor where you can dance the night away. The vibe is chilled as it is the place to be seen on weekends. Karoo is infamous for their Thursday karaoke nights amongst the locals. They open from 10am – 4am daily.

Must do: hiking in the Outeniqua Nature Reserve
The reserve of 38 000 hectares, is fragmented over a series of rugged mountain ranges which lie parallel to the coast. The reserve supplies the region with fresh water from its catchments.

Entrance to the Outeniqua Nature Reserve is free, but all visitors are asked to register at the Witfontein office.

There are several good but generally difficult trails that invite the intrepid hiker to explore this mountainous terrain. The 12 km Cradock Pass Day Trail is a challenging 5-hour hike that retraces the original 1813 ox-wagon trail taken by early settlers of the Klein Karoo.
