One can call it a gay fest - a mini-Pride or Mardi Gras - in Pretoria nogal- and it happens over the weekend of the 27th to 29th of November.

Fifteen beautiful men - both on the outside and inside - will compete for the most coveted gay title in the country - Mr Gay South AfricaTM 2009 at the Grand Finale at the State Theatre.

View the gallery of the finalists here.

Kick start this pink and purple getaway on the Friday evening with an exclusive dinner with the 15 finalists at the 4 star Court Classique Boutique Hotel's Orange Restaurant - there are only 40 tickets available.

The evening continues with a Feathers and Foam party at Legends - feathers on top, foam at the bottom! Themed dance floors, that is! For the mellow among us, there are drinks at @L Lounge in Duncan Street, Hatfield, just down the road.

Saturday can be spent shopping for that perfect evening outfit at Brooklyns (as Heidi van Kleef insists on calling it). But don't forget to stop by at Bone Wear's showroom in Lynnwood Road, again just a few blocks from Duncan Street. Then there's always drinks at Tribeca as an option?

But back to the main attraction.

The Grand Finale is directed by pageant veteran, Anne Williams of Miss South Africa and Miss World fame, hosted by M-Net presenter Jason Greer and the (air) hostess, the enigmatic Cathy Specific. The entertainers include the grand dame of South African musicals, Judy Page, and award-winning crooner Timothy Moloi - plus more music, visuals, lights - and of course - men!

Men in casual wear, men in underwear, men in evening wear! And then - the moment we have all been waiting for since April - the crowning of the winner! Mr Gay South AfricaTM 2009!

This is not the end of the evening's festivities though - Legends is celebrating five glorious years of clubbing in the capital - and your ticket to the Mr Gay South AfricaTM final gives you free entry to this party of the year!

One would think that would be enough. Think again.

Drag yourself out of bed on Sunday for a cocktail brunch with the newly crowned Mr Gay South AfricaTM and the two runners-up at the magnificent old manor house Casta Diva Boutique Hotel north of Pretoria, with an art exhibition thrown in to boot. Tickets are only R100 including welcoming drink, brunch and live entertainment.

So there you have it, a weekend guaranteed to end the year off in a spectacular fashion.
