Take the kids to Durban this school holidays. From as little as R1 249, its a definite steal...

Car loaded? Check. Accommodation booked? Check. All the girls here? Check. Its time to get ready for your much needed and much anticipated girl's weekend.
Destination Winelands
As you prepare to head off with enough girl power to light up a town, it's good to know spending some luxury time with the girls can actually be easy on your pocket. Majority rules and the weekend shall not be planned out, instead going-with-the-flow is the only item on the list of things do.
Setting up base
The Protea’s Dorphuis Hotel in Stellenbosch epitomizes Victorian glamour. It’s situated in the heart of the Winelands, which makes it an ideal location for scoping the town.
With that sorted, here is what the Winelands has to offer:
Getting cultural
A girl’s weekend should always be packed with doing girl things…
There is the PJ Olivier Art Centre with its fine collection. And close to this art haven is the local craft market - it happens on Saturdays in Stellenbosch so you can be sure of picking up some very unique items and more importantly cool bargains.
Don’t forget to try Traumerei Arts and Gift Shop for some exclusive individually selected African and Eurocentric masterpieces.
Spa treatment
Nothing beats relaxing with the girls alongside a heated pool. Then there's also the fun of enjoying some spa treatments together. It’s the best way to bond and do what girls do best.
Some good food and wine
Stellenbosch is known for serving up some of the most delectable restaurants. They range from a Cape Dutch homestead to a magnificent Victorian villa that has won numerous awards for their outstanding service and mouth watering menus. And let’s not forget those sidewalk cafés.
If you’re looking for grandma-style cooking, try Town of Oaks for their famous traditional cape meals, such as “water-blommetjie bredie”.
Dessert wine and cheese tasting
Asara Wine Estate has a rich historical background. This contributor to South Africa’s wine industry thrives on perfection and for just R30 per person, you can taste their Noble Late Harvest and white port, along with some of the finest local cheeses.
Taking in a trail
After all the food and drink, it might be a good idea to get an early start the next with a vineyard hiking trail. The length of your adventure could vary between 12, 16 or 24kms.
Starts out at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre. As you make your way to the crest of the Papegaaiberg (mountain), you'll have plenty of time to chitchat and catch up with the rest of your friends.
So keep in mind that certain vineyards require passes but don’t worry as they are easily obtainable from the Stellenbosch Tourism and Information Office.
So what are you waiting for…go ahead girls and enjoy!

Don’t just venture through the Winelands, try the Garden Route and experience its wonders.
