If you go into the Kiepersolkloof Private Nature Reserve at the end of the month, you're in for a big surprise. It's the annual get-together of the South African Naturist Federation (Sanfed).
Alanis Morisette, like so many iconic faces before her (think Yoko and John), recommends walking around naked in the living room as a means of liberating the soul.
But what happens when you decide to take it one step further, beyond the confines and safety of your home - without coming across as an angry 90s alternative rock chic or strung-out hippy from the sixties?
Read on for the know-how on this naughties vacation.
Curiosity is a big factor when it comes to paying to rest the saying "where the sun doesn't shine..."
For starters you could just kit off right now - but make sure the webcam's not on and that the household is aware of your naturist aspirations.
If you're at work, well...
Wanting to spend an entire vacation in the buff is nothing to be ashamed of according to the liberated folks over at the South African Naturist Federation, who consider it a way of life.
According to them the concept of nudism or naturism as they prefer to call it "brings you into harmony with nature and "it is characterised by the practice of communal nudity, with the intention of encouraging self-respect, respect for others and for the environment."
They're affiliated to the International Naturist Federation, which represents millions of naturists around the world.
So these are definitely the people to hook-up with if you're interested in doing more than just a bit of topless tanning - they regulate and ensure a specific standard is adhered to when it comes to nudity - and it is a prerequisite that you become a Sanfed member before being allowed to attend any of their functions.
An annual affair
The next discerning naturist experience will be held at Kiepersolkloof Private Nature Reserve from October 31 to 2 November.
This is one of the oldest private naturist areas in South Africa; situated on 207 hectares of unspoiled African bushveld in the North-West Province. Two dramatic gorges, dense with wild olives, thorn trees and the Kiepersol tree, provide the backdrop as you become one with your surroundings.
Other activities for the Sanfed Annual Bash 2008 include a hypnotist show in the evening, which will be followed by a disco at the onsite pub. There will also be a Sanfed-members-only cocktail function on the Saturday evening.
Nudism in the wild
Most people come into contact with the nudism movement in its mildest form - skinny dipping along 'free' beaches, rivers and lakes.
According to Sanfed, being naked and surrounded by nature is one way of breaking the confines of our archetypal nature - changing the imprinted symbolism of the things we see and experience.
And there are many things to see and do in your birthday suit if you're keen.
Nude sporting also includes snorkelling and nude diving
- Try Canuding - it's the practice of nude canoeing or kayaking
- Free hiking is also quite liberating. It is the practise of hiking in the remote countryside as a social activity while nude.
- There might be a little bit more to get to grips with when it comes to free riding, the practice of cycling in the remote countryside while nude.
Tailoring without the threads
However, if you'd like to ease out of your clothes in a more private holiday adventure then Kalypsotours are the people to speak to.
They arrange Nudist and Nude Recreational tours within South Africa and Africa - tailoring your nudist or clothing optional holiday by pre-planning activities and experiences to make sure you are totally satisfied and happy.
Here comes the bride, all dressed in nothing
And if this really is your preferred lifestyle then arranging a nude wedding might not seem that far fetched.
This is done by people that are committed to their nudist way of life, or whose dream is to have a really different wedding.
The first documented nude wedding was celebrated in Elysian Fields, California in 1942.
Receiving an invitation to one of these means it's clothing optional - the wedding couple is nude but the guests may come nude or dressed at their own discretion.
