We've all been asked the question at one point or the other, "If you were trapped on a desert island what's the one thing you simply could not live without?"
Ten adventurers are preparing to spend 30 days in complete isolation on a deserted island in South East Asia, competing in the endurance test of a lifetime. Five men and five women will have their physical ability and mental stability tested and at the same time they’ll raise funds for charity.
The adventurers will take only what they can fit into a five-litre dry bag, so they definitely won’t be overweight at the baggage check-in. However, this promises to give those guys in Mozambique competing in ‘Survivor South Africa’ a run for their money.
In Life 2 the Limit, there are no behind-the-scenes camera crews, reward challenges or having to vote someone out.
The challenge begins on 1 April, so the focus is now on physical and mental preparation and with only a few weeks left to go just what are the adventurers beginning to doubt they can’t live without for 30 days... we asked them?
Huenu Solsona: I can’t live without my razor
Angi Stanford: I can’t go 30 days on the island without my kikoi/sarong. After all, Ford Prefect travelled the WHOLE galaxy (see Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy) with nothing more than his towel. I’m just a bit more hip and will be taking a nice colourful kikoi! What for you may ask…? Well, here goes: number 1 – security blanket, then two: a skirt, ‘towel’, sun protector, scarf, something to lie under or on, tent, headdress… nah, won’t say more...
Jonothan Marcus: I can’t do 30 days on a desert island without my… Salomon XA PRO 3D Ultra trail running shoes
Jonothan Starke: The one thing I can't live without...dental floss!
Nick Bennett: I can't do 30 days on a desert island without my... sense of humour. If I lose that, I'm in trouble.
Saul Kornik: My blank journal, a pencil and of course the other nine adventurers
Matt Atkinson: The one thing I always take when I can and miss when I can't have is my feather pillow.
Maya Blix: I can't do 30 days on a desert island without my very thin and comfy 'wrap' (thin fleece blanket, but on the island it will be a thin sarong). I normally wrap it around my waist for comfort, use it as a pillow when I travel, and will use it for a million other purposes while on the island.
Kristen Kaethler: I neeeeeed chapstick!!!
Lisa Duthie: My toothbrush! Brushing my teeth always gives me a new lease on life when I'm tired or feeling out of sorts.
