February 2nd, 2012
Comair has announced that effective February 11, the airline will suspend its Johannesburg-Nelspruit service.
The airline also confirmed that it would discontinue services between Johannesburg and Vilanculos. In a notice, the airline said Federal Air would continue with the service under its own brand.
The current ATR aircraft, dressed in British Airways livery, is part of a leasing agreement with Comair and Solenta Aviation that came into effect from October 2011. The agreement will cease on the 11th February 2012, in conjunction with Comair announcing the closure of its current Johannesburg - Nelspruit service.
Federal Air remains the official Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) license holder of the Johannesburg - Vilanculos route and will continue to own and operate the route as it has since 2006.
There will be no effective changes made to the daily operations. Federal Air will continue to operate the ATR aircraft on the Vilanculos route, and the current timetable and operations will continue as normal.
Federal Air flies more daily direct flights from Johannesburg to Vilanculos International Airport than any other airline. Flights from Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport can be booked directly with Federal Air, while 24-hour online bookings can be made at www.fedair.com and www.kulula.com.
What about those who have bookedSubmitted by MC on Thu, 02/02/2012 - 12:46. |
I hope Comair has a horrible few years ahead because of this low blow. I am getting visitors from Germany and have booked to fly them from Johannesburg to Nelspruit in early March. Nice one dropping this one on us with such short notice! |
