Kleinfontein - in the "bundus"
October 6th, 2008
I went to the Cape in January with a friend from Germany. We were traveling around with no prebooked accommodation.
We decided to head up to Tulbagh as I remember it being the most stunning place when I was alot younger.
There was no accommodation available in Tulbagh itself, but we were recommended to try out a little place in Kleinfontein!!
Yes, Kleinfontein - I'd never heard of the place in my life. This was really an adventure and a half! It was 40 degrees, and unbearable - so anywhere would suit us fine.
As long as it had a pool, we were happy. We got to the accommodation site, and low and behold.... there was a pool, but it was green and in the sweltering heat - it was smelling too!
Much to our disgust, we stayed, and even had a swim! It was the scenery that blew us away! It was stunning! The mosquitoes on the other hand were a menace to mankind, and kept us up most of the evening in our "holy" log cabin trying to beat them off of us with towels and pillows.
There was no electricity, but just with the light from the full moon, was more than enough! It was superb. I'll never forget that evening, and most of all the fantastic memories we have to share about our adventure in Kleinfontein.
I would definitely recommend Kleinfontein to anyone who wants to get off the beaten track!
