Christmas on Durban's Southbeach is a logistical nightmare. Luckily, the Marine Parade hotel, with its family-centric vibe made our stay-over so much more appealing. All of the rooms had excellent views of Durban's beachfront, were large and spacious enough to accommodate the most raucous of holiday moods. The breakfasts, served as a buffet, were well presented and also catered for halaal. A thumbs-up to the attentive staff who, despite the hotel being full to its maximum capacity, were extremely helpful and welcoming. The only reason I'm not giving this a 5 is due to the fact that we had a foul-smelling blocked drain in our bathroom. The problem was resolved but only after a number of calls to reception who (surprisingly) were unable to get a plumber out.
