No flushing after 10pm in Switzerland. From blog.builddirect.com_mincepieclub.co.uk
Being roudy after 10 pm is a big no-no in Switzerland, as it is in most residential areas around the world.
However, this even stretches as far as toilet habits. Men are not allowed to relieve themselves while standing after 10 pm... and rather let whatever's in the bowl mellow - whether its yellow or not - till the next morning or you could be in serious trouble.
When in Rome, do as the Romans... a highly cliched little phrase, we know, but one that is still highly relevant for travellers today. Although we often like to laugh about the strange laws some countries have decreed, it is very important to be clued up about customs and legal issues before heading to a foreign country.
For instance, whereas drinking alcoholic beverages on street is not frowned upon in Germany, it is an offense here in South Africa. Thus I watched in horror recently as a tourist nonchalantly walked out of a bottle store, cracked his beer and proceeded up Adderley Street. Before I could run up and warn him, he had disappeared. To him it was nothing out of the ordinary, but most of us wouldn't dream of doing something so brazen.
Moral of the story: don't assume you know it all. Make double sure you know about any quirky laws before hitting a strange country.
