Event Description:

The fourth annual K-Way Platteklip Charity Challenge on 21 April will see an estimated 100 participants racing up and down Table Mountain to raise a target of R500 000 for Sinenjongo High School in Joe Slovo Park, Milnerton.
Competitors will climb to the top of the mountain via Platteklip Gorge, descend via Table Mountain Cableway and race to the start to begin another muscle burning lap. They need to complete the 5.5km loop as many times as possible between 7am and 6pm on Saturday.
Table Mountain Cableway will provide all participants and race officials with free access to the Cableway and all proceeds raised by the charity challenge go to Sinenjongo High, which serves an extremely impoverished community where unemployment is high and there are a large number of child-headed households.
If physical endurance is not for you, then there are other ways of getting involved, including making a donation and sponsoring a runner, as the athletes each aim to raise a minimum of R2 000.
The Cableway expects minimal disruption to normal operating procedures and signage will be in place to keep ordinary visitors informed. Supporters and visitors can also be assured that there will be no roadclosures on the day.
If poor weather conditions force the Cableway to close on 21 April, the K-Way Platteklip Charity Challenge will take place on Sunday 22 April.
